Walk to School!
How do you get to school each morning? Some students ride a bus. Some ride in a car. Others walk. I think walking is the best way to get to school, and I will tell you why.
First, walking is good exercise. Your legs and your heart get a workout before the first bell. I believe a walk also wakes up your brain, so you are ready to learn.
Second, walking is good for the town. A walker does not need a car, so no gas is burned. Fewer cars on the road also means the street in front of the school is quieter and safer. In my opinion, a quiet street is a happy street.
Third, walking is more fun with friends. You can talk, tell jokes and look at the neighborhood together. I think walking is the most interesting way to travel. On a bus, you see the street through a window, but on foot you can stop and look at a flower or a puddle.
Some students live too far away to walk the whole way, and that is okay. A bus ride can be a fine choice for them. But if you live close, I hope you will give walking a try. You might like it as much as I do.
