A Letter in the Toolbox
1Dear Mina,
This old toolbox belonged to my father, and now it belongs to you. Inside, you will find a hammer, a tape measure and a small saw. But the most important things in this box are things you cannot see or touch.
2When I was a boy, my father taught me how to fix a squeaky door. I hit my thumb twice, and I wanted to quit. He told me that skill comes from practice, not luck. His patience gave me the courage to try again.
3Last summer, you helped me build a bookshelf for your room. You asked so many questions! Your curiosity made me smile. You measured each board two times. We sanded the edges until they felt smooth. When the shelf stood straight, I could see the pride on your face.
4Take good care of these tools. Remember that every mistake is a chance to learn. I give you this toolbox with love and trust.
Love, Grandpa Jun
