Gull Bay Communities
Ms. Chen's class studied a map around Gull Bay. Harbor City is on the south shore. Seabreeze Hills is north of Harbor City. Saltgrass Farms is west of Seabreeze Hills. A road connects Saltgrass Farms to Seabreeze Hills and then to Harbor City. The ferry terminal is on Harbor City's waterfront. Seabreeze School is in Seabreeze Hills. Saltgrass Fish Pier is beside Saltgrass Farms.
Harbor City is an urban community. It has many apartment buildings, offices, and stores close together. Most of its land is paved. Buses carry people, and the ferry carries people across the bay. Jobs include work in offices, stores, and at the docks.
Seabreeze Hills is a suburban community. It has mostly single-family homes with yards, a school, and a small shopping strip. People may drive or ride a bus. Some adults work nearby, and others travel to jobs in Harbor City. Parks and open lots use some of the land.
Saltgrass Farms is a rural community. Homes are spread far apart. Fields and marshland cover much of the land. People grow vegetables, care for animals, or fish at the pier. Families often use pickup trucks, and stores and other services are farther apart.
