The Toucan's Big Bill

A toucan is a bird with a very big bill. Many toucans have bills with bright colors. Most toucans live in warm rainforests, high up in the trees.

The bill looks heavy, but it is light. Inside, it is full of tiny air spaces. So the big bill is easy for a toucan to carry.

Toucans eat mostly fruit. A toucan uses its long bill to reach fruit at the end of thin branches. Then it tips its head back and gulps the fruit down.

At night, a toucan sleeps in a hole in a tree. It turns its head and rests its bill on its back.
