Chimps

Chimps are apes. They live in groups in the forests of Africa. A chimp has long arms and strong hands. It has a thumb on each hand, like you.

Chimps munch on fruit and leaves. They eat bugs, too. A chimp can push a thin stick into a bug nest. When it pulls the stick out, bugs cling to it. Then the chimp eats the bugs.

Chimps check each other's fur. They pick out dirt and bugs. This helps keep the fur clean, and it helps the chimps stay friends.

At night, a chimp makes a bed up in a tree. It bends branches and leaves into a soft nest. Then it curls up and sleeps.
