Rafi's Floury Bow
Pictures help explain why a clown's big costume shoes leave white footprints as he practices for a show.
Play the quiz as a gameRafi was getting ready for a clown show in a hall. His red shoes were big and floppy. In the first picture, Rafi stands beside a low stage. Rows of chairs face him.
Tess was making dough at a table nearby. Some flour fell from her bag. Rafi stepped in it. The second picture shows white powder under his red shoes. Its caption says, "Flour on the floor."
Rafi walked to the stage to practice his bow. He bent low and smiled. But Tess pointed at a trail of big white footprints. In the third picture, the trail goes from the table to the stage.
"Did I make those?" asked Rafi.
"Look at your shoes!" said Tess. Rafi lifted one foot. Flour covered the bottom. "My feet are leaving little pictures!" he said.
Tess swept up the flour. Rafi wiped his shoes with a damp cloth. Then he tried his bow again. This time, he left smiles, not footprints.
