A Bag or a Plate for Bean Sprouts
Two guides explain how to grow bean sprouts for observation, using a clear bag or a plate.
Play the quiz as a gameHow can you watch a bean start to grow? These two guides show ways to grow bean sprouts. A sprout is a young plant. These beans are for watching, not eating.
Guide One has the heading “Beans in a Bag.” Soak three dry beans in water overnight. Fold a damp paper towel. Damp means a little wet. Put the towel and beans in a clear bag. Leave the top open. Set the bag in a warm spot.
The guide has a drawing of the bag. A caption says, “Look for roots!” The clear bag lets you see them.
Guide Two has the heading “Beans on a Plate.” Soak three dry beans in water overnight. Put them on a damp paper towel on a plate. Lay another damp towel over them. Set the plate in a warm spot. This guide has photos. Lift the top towel to check for roots.
Both guides say to check each day. If the towels get dry, add a little water. Both ways help beans sprout. One uses a bag. The other uses a plate.
